This Privacy Policy explains how Python for Oil & Gas (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website, interactive course, and book (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to this policy.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.

Learning progress. Your exercise and chapter progress is stored both in your browser (localStorage) and, for signed-in users, on our servers so it follows you across devices.

Payments. Purchases are processed by Paystack. We receive a transaction reference and status; we do not collect or store your full card details.

AI tutor interactions. When you use the AI tutor, your question and the relevant course context are sent to Anthropic (Claude) to generate a response. We log usage metadata (feature, token counts, cost) but use it only to operate and budget the feature.

How we use your information

To provide and maintain the Service, authenticate you, track your progress, process purchases, send transactional emails (verification, password resets, receipts), respond to support requests, and improve the product.

Third-party services

We share the minimum data needed with: Anthropic (AI tutor responses), Paystack (payments), SendGrid (transactional email), and our hosting providers. Each processes data under its own privacy terms.

Cookies and local storage

We use a single secure, httpOnly session cookie to keep you signed in, and browser localStorage to remember your draft code and progress. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Data retention and your rights

We keep your account data while your account is active. You may request access, correction, or deletion of your personal data by emailing us. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Security

We use industry-standard measures (hashed passwords, encrypted transport, signed tokens) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.

Children

The Service is intended for users aged 16 and older and is not directed at children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
